Preparing Pig for the fair

We have never owned a 4 legged hooved animal, Blue and spot have been our first adventure, into farm life. So we have been flying by the seat of our pants and now have come to the 2 week mark prior to the fair. And it was brought to our attention that you have to SHAVE the pig!!!! How do you shave a pig....uuuummmm, we don't know!

So after doing a little research, stealing dad's hair clippers (don't tell him, please). You get to work and well kind of wing it! Here are the pictures to prove it...

After a while we realized that the little pig spot was trying to eat the electrical cord. So we then let Blue out into the yard and finished cutting him there.

Dixie time....

We were able to head to Dixie, Idaho....Silver Spur Lodge, ( www.silverspurlodge.com ) home to Nanny and Papa Koesel, the week after the 4th of July this year. Hunter had been staying at the Lodge since the 8th of May and we were headed up to bring him home. We were also able to bring along Lauren Brody, Lexy's friend from Colorado. As well as meet up with the Mack Family.

Our time included swimming, hiking, horseback riding and lots of laughing....

Our First Chicken Egg...

Our chickens have been fun and a great learning experience... for about 2 weeks now we occassionally hear the hens making a total ruckus during the day. I have been telling the kids that they are practicing to lay eggs. Well today, July 4th, one hen was no longer practicing!!!!

Here is the evidence...

 Our 1st egg

It may be small but the smiles are big!

Hudson came running into the house to tell me he found the first egg
