We Caught the Skunk!

Thanks to Mike, who we think is the Skunk Master. Our little friend is now running free in the woods about 5 miles up from our house!!

We have a SKUNK!!!!

Yes, we have a skunk living under our bike shed in the backyard! I had smelled it last week a couple of times and just thought that maybe one had been hit by a car down the road and the wind was just right. But I was wrong! On Saturday morning we let Meg into the house to clean up some popcorn pieces that had been dropped and got a real big whiff. Quickly we put her out and Craig and I went outside on an exploring expedition. Meg took us to the shed and the hole under the shed where we confirmed the smell. A little too late because she had been sprayed on the top of the head! After many baths...and internet searches for a remedy. The best resolve was sent to us by our friend Dede, 1 pint of peroxide, 1 bottle of selsum blue shampoo (we used the one with aloe) and 1/2 cup of baking soda. It looks like green goo but worked like a charm. Here are some photos. Oh and we called animal control, they gave me the number to a local guy, Mike. He brought us over a trap and will relocate the creature when we catch him. A picture of Mike is to come(you will never forget this old guy!)....he loves catching these animals, he even has a couple as pets!!
